The facial massage roller belongs to the category of beauty accessories, which at first glance are slightly reminiscent of something in the S&M repertoire. The fancy versions of these rollers are made of rose quartz or jade. These crystals are supposed further enhance the massaging process with their magical powers. The scientific background of the last statement is debatable, but we can definitely agree that they really look nice. Less attractive versions are made of metal and usually have two ball heads. Choose the roller according to your preference, as there is no difference in performance. It’s all in the technique. Facial massage helps with puffiness, better circulation, collagen production and skin elasticity, and consequently wrinkles. If you add oil, serum or cream to the process, you can also make sure that the product will absorb better. You can also use is while wearing a sheet mask! Learn from estheticians! They always massage your face at the end of the treatment.

There are a couple of rules when it comes to face rolling. First: don't push too hard. Gentle to medium pressure will be fine. Second: always pull in upward motion. Thirdly, don’t do it on dry, product free skin. Apply a cream or an oil as this will allow the massage to flow more smoothly and without unnecessary pulling on the skin.

We’ve prepared these cute gifs that will guide you through the whole process in case you’re still in doubt. Repeat each movement three times and don’t forget your neck!

Another small tip: keep the roller in the refrigerator. The cold really helps with the puffiness.
